About Us

This story began in 2020, when Ukraine was riding the wave of the third coffee revolution. No one drank Americano anymore. Sugar in coffee? Absolutely not. People asked baristas: “Where exactly was this bean grown — what patch of land?”

We surfed that wave and enjoyed every second of it.

Who are we?

We are:
Natalia and Kseniia — co-founders of Duck the Rules.

We met back in 2018, while working together at a big international FMCG company. Natalia was a national sales manager. Kseniia — a brand manager.

We love great drinks, fresh beans, and coffee culture. Everyone knows Ukrainian borscht — but let’s be honest: Ukrainians drink coffee way more often than soup.

And at home? Good coffee is a daily ritual. You walk into a supermarket — and just buy it. We had a hand in that too.

Duck the Rules is a brand about coffee that breaks boundaries.
You, your fluffy slippers, your window to the world, and that perfect cup.

Only hand-roasted beans, for full quality control

Packed 3–7 days after roasting (no later)

Shelf life = 1 year (not 2–3 like many others)

These principles — and a duck who breaks all the rules — made us known across Ukraine. We hit the shelves in three major supermarket chains and online. Sales grew. The brand evolved. And then came February 24, 2022 — a point of no return.

It’s a term from drama theory: the moment the hero realizes life will never be the same again.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion, Kseniia found herself in the Czech Republic. Natalia — in the Netherlands. That’s where this new chapter begins. “It’s forbidden to forbid!” — that’s what we used to print on our packs. Still true. The duck insists this coffee will reach shelves in every country. We just pass on the message.

Note: For now, some products will come in Ukrainian packaging. They were printed before the war and never used. On the back, you’ll find coffee slogans — use ChatGPT for translations. They’re fun, we promise.
